Izang Alexander Haruna is a writer, literary critic, educator, and data analyst based in Jos, Nigeria. His academic background is as diverse as his intellectual pursuits, holding a first degree in Philosophy, followed by a second degree in Criminology and Security Studies. In between these, he acquired a Professional Diploma in Education, reinforcing his commitment to both knowledge and its transmission.

A seasoned literary enthusiast, Haruna has been deeply immersed in literature and poetry for years, with his works spanning both local and international publications. His debut book, Letters to 42 Writers (2024), is a testament to his engagement with literature as both an art and a discourse. As part of his continuous literary journey, he is set to release a poetry chapbook on the boy child in May 2025 to commemorate the International Day of the Boy Child. Beyond these, he has several manuscripts in progress, further expanding his contributions to the literary world.

Haruna’s engagement with literature is not limited to writing. He has been a part of notable literary circles, participating in and curating competitions such as the Speaking Pen International Community (SPIC) and The Blueseraph Poetry Competition. With over a decade of active reading and writing, his critical and creative works continue to contribute to contemporary discussions in African literature.

He is the author of Letters to 42 Writers (2024) and has been recognized for his poetry and literary criticism. In July 2019, he was a finalist (Top 10) in the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Monthly Competition. His work has also earned him an award from the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (Anambra State Chapter) for excellence in literary entry.

In addition to his writing, Izang has played an active role in literary curation and publishing. He served as the maiden Managing Editor of Beyond Pages: A Publication of CMLi, the official magazine of Jos BookFair 2024. His critical insight and editorial expertise were further recognized when he was shortlisted for the prestigious E. E. Sule/Sevhage Prize for African Literary Criticism. His influence in literary discourse extends beyond the written word, as he was invited as a panelist at the Benue Book and Arts Festival 2025, where he contributed to discussions on African literature and criticism.

Izang’s published works span multiple genres, including poetry, essays, book reviews, and literary criticism. His writings have appeared in renowned publications such as Boys Are Not Stones Anthology, Jalada Africa, Brigitte Poirson Poetry, AFAS Review, Unijos Echo, The Gadfly Philosophical Magazine, and The Nigerian Review. Through these contributions, he continues to engage in literary conversations that explore themes of identity, philosophy, faith, and social justice.
