Technology has made it possible for people to create and do what was envisioned to be impossible, decades and centuries ago. People from all walks of life can now have access to different resources simultaneously from different locations in the world. Moreso, with the evolution of technology daily; several people are being equip with the relevant type of assistance they need to improve their quality of life, and the help they require that would otherwise have been inaccessible.

There is no doubt that technology has played a major role in creating visibility and traction for several movements and conversations. With the different social media platforms available today; a person, idea, or topic can go viral in seconds or less.

Consequently, in the Fight against Violence against Women and Girls; the role technology plays cannot be overemphasized. Technology has been viable in driving social media/virtual campaigns, publishing educational materials on the recognition and reporting of Violence against Women and Girls, creation and development of referral pathway platforms for victims and survivors of Gender Based Violence, and economic/social empowerment of women and girls who may have gone through, or are prone to be affected by violence.

Technology can be very instrumental in influencing policies, driving positive social changes, and adding to the overall journey toward promoting social justice on a large scale. Technology has been used to achieve strides in reducing inequalities across several sectors, and it continues to evolve alongside the changes people and communities go through.

Technology is immensely effective both for individual use and professionally. But while the way we live our lives has changed significantly with every technological innovation, its important we maximize it to raise awareness, support, and engage personnel to fight systemic pathways that promote violence against women and girls.
