CLIMATE LEADERSHIP
There is no doubt that every action comes with rewards or consequences, and as the world battles with unpredictable weather patterns, rising temperatures, and devastating natural disasters; It has become imperative that climate leadership be given uttermost priority.

“Climate leadership” refers to the act of actively taking a leading role in addressing climate change, demonstrating a strong commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable practices, and inspiring others to do the same, often by setting ambitious goals and implementing impactful climate action plans across various sectors like business, government, and communities
The actions, decisions, and influence of individuals, organizations, or governments that prioritize and address the challenges of climate change cannot be overemphasized. Collective action is needed to surmount the climatic issues of our time which requires immediate attention. Climate leadership involves more than just acknowledging the existence of climate change; it demands a deep understanding of the issue, a willingness to take bold action, and a commitment to justice, inclusivity, and sustainability.

Climate leaders must be able to navigate complex political, economic, and social landscapes to drive meaningful change, and think beyond short-term gains and electoral cycles. More importantly, they must focus on the needs of future generations; posterity must be proud of the ancestors that once lived. This can only be attained when positive thought patterns are imbibed, willingness to invest in renewable energy is formed, sustainable infrastructure is developed, and climate-resilient agriculture is invested in.

Climate leadership must be expressed in coalition and collaboration building with diverse stakeholders. A global problem requires a global response; and climate leaders must be at the forefront of engaging these issues across several sectors such as governments, businesses, civil society organizations, and local communities.
