Stacy Akinyi is a dedicated gender equality advocate and the Executive Director of Great Ladies Organisation, a nonprofit based in Kisumu, Kenya. With a strong commitment to improving the lives of women and girls, Stacy has been at the forefront of initiatives that promote Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and empower young women through education and advocacy. Under her leadership, Great Ladies Organisation has become a beacon of hope for many in the community.

The organisation focuses on several thematic areas, including SRHR, GBV prevention, women and girls’ empowerment, education, and community engagement. Through these programs, Great Ladies aims to create safe, supportive environments where women and girls can thrive and lead fulfilling lives. Stacy is particularly passionate about addressing issues such as SGBV, HIV/AIDS, and teenage pregnancy through the She Thrives project, a flagship initiative that provides education, advocacy, and support to young women in Kisumu.

Her work also involves capacity-building initiatives for both young girls and women, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to excel in their personal and professional lives. In addition to her role at Great Ladies; Stacy is also an educator at Nyamasaria Comprehensive School, where she advocates for girls’ education and safe learning environments. Her work in education aligns closely with her gender advocacy, as she believes education is key to transforming lives and creating equal opportunities for all.

Through her leadership, she continues to inspire change, working tirelessly to create a world where young women can live free from violence and discrimination, and have access to the resources they need to succeed.
